Reviews
This location is mobility accessible. The store has really nice fresh areas, some of the selection is smaller, but the store has a smaller footprint. They have some items like real sugar cane in produce. The staff were working very hard to take care of its customers. The store is a little older inside and could use a refresh. They have a selection of gardening items on the front sidewalk. It's an easy store to get in and out of the parking lot and if this was in my neighborhood I would be a happy regular customer!
Beware boxes are much much larger than what's inside bought too many items with way to much empty space inside. Never had this issue with any other grocery store products. I feel cheated and scammed. Sobeys is a expensive brand which I feel isn't great and I'm boycotting sobeys for jerking customers around think of the millions of people getting jerked around. FU sobeys your dead to me.....here are a few items the other boxes I didn't take pitures of
Friendly and helpful staff. Carts and baskets are always available. Produce Meats and Fish are all fresh. The bakery smells amazing in the morning. Clean facility and well lit. Self checkout available. The hot food section has good items but has an inconsistent taste and the price is not the best. Plenty of parking. Free WiFi. Collect your scene points here too.
Apparently I'm a Karen today..
I buy sushi there at times when I need my fix. Since their recent changes to the store the makers of the sushi counter have been slacking in common sense. There is a tiny space provided in all sushi containers for the Wasabi. Lately they decided to leave the space empty and thrown the Wasabi in with the sushi.
No big deal... other then my acid reflux that reacts to spicy foods.
I call the store.. they tell me to call everytime I wanna come in and get sushi to make sure they've made it right..
Apparently their sushi is made by a separate company and they make it to their guidelines. So here I sit with sushi that's been sitting in Wasabi juices for God knows how long.
Thanks for helping your customers with products sold in your stores.
Great Service but High Prices
Sobeys truly impresses with its store layout and customer service. However, the steep pricing of products, which can be found at significantly lower costs at other retailers like Walmart, is a major concern. This factor is substantial enough for me to reconsider shopping at Sobeys.
To illustrate, the Delmonte bar (picture attached) is a striking example. At Sobeys, it is priced at $8.29, whereas its regular price at Walmart is just $4.50. This considerable price disparity influences my purchasing decisions and leads me to favor shopping elsewhere.
I only ever go to Sobeys when I don't want to drive further, which is RARE. Their prices are INSANE! I bought an exact same veggie tray at the Super Store at 4th Ave last week for $15.00. At Sobeys, it was $22.99! Two days before Christmas, they had 3 cashiers open! The self checkout constantly had errors as i tried to pack my own bags. Also, the front entrance smelled like urine. It was gross. Next time, I'll drive to Zhers.
So my husband and I went to Sobey's in Niagara falls for a shop. In particular, we were looking for a specific fish and so we drove from Niagara on the Lake to Niagara falls for fresh fish on a Sunday morning. Our basket is full. We make it to the cash register. There is a middle aged man cashing out in the next lane beside us and he checks out. He picks up his brown bag. As he's about to exit the lane, the cash person says very rudely - in command mode tone "Excuse me, can you please take your buggy." I was absolutely floored. I was thinking we all have choices. He comes on a Sunday morning to shop and chooses Sobey's - which we know is an upscale store with higher prices. He probably chooses it for it's premium selection and services. What does he get this Sunday morning? He gets attitude. He was gracious and took the buggy to the exit and did as he was told. I honestly have never seen such a poor tone & attitude towards a customer. I know that the cashier is probably intending on training Sobey customers to take their buggies. It's a courtesy for everyone should the customer do it. But with these super high prices of food right now, you think that Sobey's can have a staff person on hand should a customer choose not to put the buggy back. Its the least amount of service that he wanted/ needed this morning, was for somebody else to take care of the buggy because for whatever reason he felt he couldn't or it was an inconvenience at that moment. I'm honestly just feeling customers should expect better. Train your staff to be more conscientious that sometimes people have other things on their mind or they don't feel that they can handle a cart at the moment. Instead of barking at a customer Sobey's should have somebody else on staff to take care of that. Try this instead "Can I take care of your buggy for you sir, it's our pleasure! Happy Holidays!" Do better Sobey's! Thank you.
The sushi takeout shop in the store is the best place. The food is clean and delicious, and the owner is so kind. If I go here, I will definitely stop by again.
